​Estimator - [Olney]

Are you an Estimator looking for an exciting new opportunity? who has worked in construction? Our client has an excellent opportunity for an estimator based in Olney, you will be responsible for planning labour, equipment and material costs of projects. We are looking for someone who possesses analytical estimating skills and can work under pressure to tight deadlines.

My Client are looking for an enthusiastic Estimator to join their Team. They will be based at their Head Office in Olney,Buckinghamshire and will be working on various elements within Pre-Construction process on a variety of construction work mainly working on Schools.

About the role

  • As a Estimator your key responsibilities will include:

  • Responsible for the management of accurate records of tender and contract documents and thorough review.

  • Prepare detailed bills of quantities and works schedules to allow accurate pricing.

  • Compile tender comparisons for consideration.

  • Present tender at settlement meeting and demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of best winning approach to be taken

  • Offer advice on risk and value engineering options.

  • Chair handover meetings with the project team and maintain contact to ensure all knowledge is successfully transferred.

  • Work closely with the supply chain to ensure they continue to provide competitive tenders, ensure delivery teams are aware of those sub-contractors that have contributed to ensure they are given a fair opportunity to secure work.

  • Contribute to database of tenders for historical data and average rates and supply chain databases.

  • Develop relationships with consultants and clients.

  • Maximising the efficiency of the service through the effective management and utilisation of all resources and in conjunction with the Project Managers, proactively identify problems and where appropriate take action to improve service delivery.

  • Contributing to teamwork working with clients, project managers and subcontractors building on trust, honesty and building in support mechanisms to support colleagues in their tasks.

  • Proven track record of successful delivery of projects.

  • Use of Microsoft suite of Office programmes; inc. Excel, Word, Outlook, and Project.

  • The ability to read and accurately interpret programmes, drawings, and technical specifications.

  • Understanding and appropriately sharing build programmes.

  • Proactively liaising with customers and the supply chain.

  • Relevant construction qualifications and accreditations

  • Experience with multiple types of construction projects.

  • Valid driving licence.


  • Salary up to 75 depending on experience

  • Company Car / Car allowance
